Privacy

At a glanceThis site has no cookies, no ads and no tracking. It counts visits anonymously, without identifying anyone. Anything you type into a guide stays in your own browser.

What this site does not do

  • It sets no cookies.
  • It has no visitor tracking or advertising.
  • It loads nothing from other companies except one small Cloudflare script that counts visits (see Counting visits). There are no outside fonts or embedded videos.
  • I never sell or share information about the people who read it.

What stays in your browser

A few small things are saved in your own browser, on your own device. They are never sent to me or to anyone else.

  • Your guide answers. The care-team checklist, the 90-day action plan and the symptom tracker save what you type, so it is still there when you come back. Your answers can include your variant, symptoms and medicines. “Clear my answers” deletes them, and on a shared computer it is worth doing when you finish.
  • Your reading level. The three-level table on the research pages remembers which level of explanation you chose.
  • A language suggestion. The English home page asks Cloudflare, the site’s host, which country you are visiting from. The page keeps only the two-letter country code until you close the tab, so it can offer the Polish version to visitors in Poland.
  • A closed announcement. If you close the announcement at the top of the home page, your browser remembers that, so it stays closed on later visits. Clearing this site’s data in your browser brings it back.
  • Your search words, for a moment. When you choose a search result, the words you searched for are kept in this tab only, for up to a minute, so the page that opens can highlight them. They are deleted as soon as that page opens.

You can remove all of this at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser’s settings.

Counting visits

To see which pages people read, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views, the pages people come from and broad details such as the country and type of device. It sets no cookies, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you to other sites, so I never see who you are. It runs only on the live site, cmt2c.org. Cloudflare explains how Web Analytics works.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles technical details such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and keep the site secure, and your browser may send it a report if a page fails to load. I do not see who visits. Cloudflare’s privacy policy explains how it handles this information.

If you email me

If you write to cmt2cinfo@gmail.com, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to share. I use it only to reply to you.

If you send me your story, it goes on this site only in your own words, after you have seen a preview and said yes. I will change or remove it whenever you ask, and I can delete your emails on request.

Links to research journals, YouTube, patient organizations and other websites take you to sites with their own privacy policies. Nothing from those sites loads on these pages.

Your rights

If you live in the UK or the European Union, data protection law gives you rights over your personal information, including the right to see it and to have it deleted. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as UODO in Poland or the ICO in the UK. Email me at cmt2cinfo@gmail.com with any question about this page.
